Oracle, Google Make CRM Moves

By Doug Caverly

A whole lot of people like Google; a look at the corporation's share of the search market (around 65 percent) proves this point. And Siebel and its parent company, Oracle, have a ton of fans, too. So quite a few folks should be happy to hear that the entities behind all these names are now working together on CRM-related matters.

A press release explained, "Oracle's Siebel CRM applications can interact with the Google cloud in a secure and flexible manner through Google Secure Data Connector, opening the door to the delivery of next-generation SaaS applications that do not impact existing resources and include multi-tenancy support to securely access corporate data from behind firewalls."

What's more, the development is supposed to make everything extremely simple from a user's point of view. Customers will be able to work with open Web platforms and about any programming languages they please. Prior programming knowledge might even be optional.

Mark Woollen, Vice President of Social CRM at Oracle, stated as a result, "We're excited to see Google provide an open, standards-based environment that makes it easy for developers to create new cloud-based applications that are capable of interacting in real-time with Oracle's Siebel CRM in an on-premise environment."
