10.05.09 Ebix Acquires E-Z Data, Talks CRM Development By Doug CaverlyE-Z Data - along with its CRM software aimed at the financial services industry - has found a new home, in a manner of speaking. Ebix acquired E-Z Data for $50.35 million late last week, and now intends to make CRM solutions much more commonplace. Robin Raina, the president and CEO of Ebix, said in a statement, "We have always had the vision to include CRM into the core fabric of the information exchanged in the insurance business." He later continued, "We believe that this can serve as a catalyst for industry-wide exchange adoption at a faster pace as this will also help us sell CRM solutions in an enterprise manner to our existing exchange clients."
Since E-Z Data's CRM solutions are supposed to be quite good, Raina's goals are probably achievable. Indeed, E-Z Data's been around for about 20 years, and has ties to some Fortune 500 life insurance companies, so with added support from Ebix, its offerings could serve as good ambassadors of sorts for the entire CRM industry. Also, existing E-Z Data fans don't need to worry about the acquisition mucking stuff up, because Ebix doesn't appear set to go overhauling everything without cause.
