It's getting to the point that Twitter is hard to avoid; in fact, a study released today determined that the site's received about $48 million in free media coverage. It makes a fair amount of sense, then, that Microsoft's decided to integrate its Dynamics CRM software with Twitter.
Thanks to Twitter, negative comments can appear in front of hundreds of people as soon as they're made. And the most entertaining and/or serious comments may get repeated over and over, amplifying the damage to a business's reputation. Microsoft wants to keep that from happening to its clients.
Tom Espiner explains, "The company announced on Friday that its Dynamics CRM software will have a 'Social Networking Accelerator' component which will allow companies to monitor what customers are saying on Twitter, and to provide information about products and services based on that data."
This should prove very helpful in the reputation monitoring game. Plus, the software's bound to get even better as other social networks are tied in (plans have been made, but participants-to-be and dates haven't been announced).
As for availability, Social Networking Accelerator is supposed to be within everyone's reach in a few weeks' time.
