Sprint Wins CRM Excellence Award

When it comes to CRM and customer experience, Sprint is at the head of the class, according to Gartner and 1to1 Media. Sprint beat out many other organizations in order to win a 2010 Gartner and 1to1 Media CRM Excellence Award in the category of customer experience.

Curious what the award's all about? And/or how Sprint earned it? Ginger Conlon, the editorial director of 1to1 Media, answered the first question by explaining in a statement, "The Gartner & 1to1 CRM Excellence Awards honors outstanding organizations that use customer-focused strategies to improve their business performance."

Conlon then addressed the second matter by continuing, "Judges cited Sprint's CEO-driven enterprise-wide approach to re-inventing the customer experience as one reason for giving the company high scores in the Customer Experience category."

There you have it, then. And since large corporations generally aren't known for offering the best customer service, this definitely serves as a call for smaller competitors to step up their game. Or just imitate Sprint's moves, if that seems achievable or easier.

CIGNA might act as an additional source of inspiration, too. It won second place in the same competition, and given that its market cap is $8.26 billion to Sprint's $12.46 billion, that's not bad at all.

Anyway, congratulations to both companies, and good luck to everyone else next year.
