Whether they think Microsoft's great or view it as an enemy, just about everyone can agree that the company's moves bear watching, and recently, Microsoft took a big step in the CRM market. Microsoft Dynamics CRM was released in beta.
The term "big" might actually represent an understatement in this case. The beta's available in eight languages and 36 markets, which speaks to a reach many organizations could never dream of achieving.
As for some details related to what the beta looks like and can accomplish, an official statement claimed it offers "[f]amiliar experiences through a next-generation native Microsoft Outlook client, Microsoft Office contextual CRM Ribbon, RoleTailored design and user personalization."
It's supposed to provide "[i]ntelligent experiences through guided process dialogs, inline data visualizations, performance and goal management, and real-time dashboards," too.
Finally, there are "[c]onnected experiences through cloud development, Windows Azure integration, contextual Microsoft SharePoint document repositories, teamwork and collaboration, and the Microsoft Dynamics Marketplace."
For better or for worse (depending on one's stance), Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 is sure to affect much of the CRM industry. Experts in the field should get familiar with the beta so they can better predict the results in their particular corner.
