Oracle Fusion CRM Makeover To Come

Oracle has announced its recent purchase of InQuira to enhance its Fusion CRM. As Oracle's senior VP states, "[w]e expect InQuira to be the centerpiece for Oracle Fusion CRM Service." The new purchase has a lot to offer.

The purchase was not necessarily out of the blue. InQuira incorporated Oracle's On Demand software in 2009 and they have a lot of the same customers. The customers that are currently InQuira's will benefit from the merge. Further integrating InQuira into Oracle's Fusion software makes perfect sense.

It also makes sense because of the knowledge management component that InQuira has to offer. According to a ComputerWorld interview with Ray Wang, the CEO of Constellation Research, most CRM products have "a big gap in this area." He also notes that the technology and customer base of knowledge management is a "specialized niche."

InQuire has some high profile companies as customers, like Yahoo, 3M, and more than 80 others. Oracle's deal with InQuira is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Given a smooth transition, Fusion customers will likely see a great product boost with the new makeover to come.
